Non-surgical facelifts are the newest non-surgical facelift treatment trend. Unlike traditional facelift surgery, which involves plastic surgeons cutting and repositioning the skin, the thread lift procedure involves certified medical providers inserting threads beneath sagging skin to help lift and support it. Thread facelifts are less invasive cosmetic procedures than traditional facelift surgeries and can be completed in a single session. They are also less expensive and have a shorter recovery time, allowing you to resume your normal daily routine with minimal downtime. However, keep in mind that this is subject to your body's healing response.
During a surgical facelift, skin and other facial tissue are removed and repositioned from various parts of the face and body. It is a long procedure that requires a lengthy recovery period. A thread lift, on the other hand, is a minimally invasive p rocedure that lifts and supports the face without removing any tissues. The threads are inserted and anchored inside the deep skin layer and do not require any surgical incisions. Thread facelifts can be performed on face and body with moderately loose skin, such as the cheeks, jawline, brows, and buttocks.
A thread lift is less invasive and has a shorter recovery time than a traditional facelift because it does not require general anesthesia and incisions. It also promotes collagen production to further improve the appearance of your skin. However, it should be noted that a thread lift is not a replacement for a full facelift. It can help lift and contour sagging cheeks, eyes, and other areas of the face, but it is not recommended for patients with excess skin with severe laxity.
A medical provider will administer local anesthesia before inserting a cannula under the skin during a thread lift. The medical provider will then insert the thread into deep skin layers of the desired areas, and the barbs of the threads will attach and anchor the sagging tissue. The thread is then maneuvered to contour and define your natural features. The procedure will be repeated for each area that requires lifting and support.
The threads eventually dissolve in your body and new collagen will form to help support the skin and keep it firm and tight. Many people in their 40s and 50s most effectively use thread lifts. It has the potential to produce subtle and instant improvements in facial contours and skin quality for up to one year.
Following a thread lift, you can see your results immediately and return to your daily routine right away. You should, however, avoid strenuous activities, dental procedures, and exaggerated facial expressions that will put too much pressure and tension on your face for at least a month. It is highly recommended to follow the before and after procedure care instructions from your provider to minimize the chances of complications and side effects.
A thread lift, as with any medical procedure, has risks and side effects such as bleeding, infection, hematoma (bleeding outside the blood vessels), and poor wound healing.
Bruising and swelling may be observed, and the areas where the provider placed the threads may feel numb or tingly. Swelling and pain are usually mild, but they can last for a few weeks. Ice packs and analgesics can help alleviate the pain and swelling. You can also lower your risk of these complications by carefully following your provider instructions.
For the first few weeks after the procedure, you should avoid lifting anything heavy. It is best to avoid smoking and drinking alcohol for the first few weeks following the procedure as they can delay the healing process.
